President’s Message – July 2020
Fellow members, this should be a summer to remember at the Chapter.
First, the July membership meeting will present some reasons to celebrate, as we will be announcing the receipt by the Chapter of some national awards. Normally, these awards are made at the Annual Convention. Sadly, that was canceled. But there’s nonetheless some good news for all of us. Attend the meeting to find out more about why and how your Chapter has been recognized by the national organization.
Please also make plans now to attend the August meeting on the 19th so that we can conduct some important business. At this meeting, the Chapter membership will vote on whether to accept a gift of three islands in the Potomac River. The acquisition of the islands has been considered by an ad-hoc committee and the Board has voted to accept the donation. The final step in the Chapter’s decision-making process concerning the acquisition of additional land is a vote by you, the members. More detailed information about these islands, including some maps and photographs, will be available on the website in the “Blog” section. There will be an opportunity for some discussion at the meeting, but feel free to take a look at what’s available on the website to learn more. If after reviewing the material you have questions about the islands, please email them to [email protected] and we will answer them at the meeting.
The Zoom invitation to the July membership meeting is available on the website calendar. Just navigate to the calendar and click on the July 15 membership meeting event. The Zoom information is there.
This summer we will celebrate, and even possibly make some Chapter history.
