B-CC IWLA Acquires 100-Acre North East Woods

The B-CC Land Fund Committee researches potential land that borders the B-CC Poolesville Conservation Farm holdings, and with the approval of the membership, acquires these lands to increase the contiguous wildlife habitat. To date the B-CC land holdings are part of 7,000 acres of woodlands and agricultural lands that have been set aside under conservation and other land easements. (Click here to view the protected lands around the B-CC Conservation Farm)

Our Chapter’s most recent property purchases of 100 acres of woodland, “North East Woods”, took place in November of 2010 and September of 2012. With the addition of these 100 acres you and the other members of this chapter are now the owners of 623 acres of woodlands, agricultural fields and open space. The threat of commercial or residential development has been removed from the B-CC IWLA Conservation Farm by selling the land’s development rights and the installation of conservation easements. The values and life style of our present and future membership have been insured by creating a buffer of land that we own and control.

A slide show showing an aerial view of our past and recently purchased property is available for everyone to witness the extent and magnificence of the B-CC IWLA Chapter’s land holdings. (Click here to view an aerial survey of the Conservation Farm)

Purchase of these properties was made possible with a loan from the B-CC-IWLA Legacy Foundation. Now is the time for all of us to step-up with our contributions to the Land Fund which will pay back this loan.

Contributions to the Land Fund are governed by the Chapter’s By-Laws, restricting their use to land purchase only. All contributions to the fund are tax deductable and the fund is 100% efficient operating without overhead expenses. Donations or contributions can be made to the Land fund at anytime. Checks intended for the land fund should be made out to the B-CC IWLA and the memo section of the check should indicate “Land Fund.”

Memorials in lieu of flowers are a wonderful way to make a contribution to the Land Fund and to ensure that our loved ones values will be perpetuated in the everlasting duration of our Chapter’s land.

You may also include the Land Fund in your Estate Planning by leaving tangible assets to the B-CC IWLA. All income from Estate assets left to the Chapter will be utilized to purchase land and increase the holdings of the Chapter as a lasting memorial for you and your family.

Firearm donations to the Land Fund will be evaluated and a tax deductable receipt for fair market value will be provided to the donor. The firearms are auctioned to Chapter members and the proceeds go to the Land Fund. This all results in one ethical firearm owner passing on his firearms to another generation of ethical owners, our Chapter members, all the while ensuring that they have a property where they can use them.

Memorial and firearm donations must be accompanied with a letter from the donor stating that the donation is intended for the Land Fund. In return, the B-CC IWLA will provide each donor with a letter confirming their donation for tax purposes.

Please contribute generously to the Land Fund by sending a check or other contribution to B-CC IWLA, P.O. Box 542, Poolesville, Maryland 20837.
