Farm Committee Mission: To improve Soil Health for the betterment of our air, woods, waters, and wildlife.
Soil is a living, breathing natural resource that needs mankind’s stewardship. By placing soil health at the core of our mission, we all win. The flora that best supports soil health also provides the best forage for wildlife including Whitetail Deer, Wild Turkey, small game and upland fowl. The B-CC IWLA Conservation Farm has 85 acres of land that is farmed using soil health principles and systems which include no-till, cover cropping and diverse rotations. By farming using soil health principles, we are increasing the soil’s organic matter and improving microbial activity. As a result, we are fulfilling the Izaak League’s mission and sequestering more carbon, increasing water infiltration, and improving wildlife and pollinator habitat.
