The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America promotes outdoor activity in the spirit of the IWLA membership pledge:
“To strive for the purity of water, the clarity of the air, and the wise stewardship of the land and its resources; to know the beauty and understanding of nature, and the value of wildlife, woodlands and open space; to the preservation of this heritage and to man’s sharing in it. I pledge myself as a member of the Izaak Walton League of America.”
To that end, our chapter members manage, grow, and develop these activies through committees, both standing & ad hoc.
Conservation of the environment around us and Educating chapter members, their families, and the general public about the importance of conservation are the primary tenet of the B-CC IWLA’s mission, its raison d’etre.
The B-CC IWLA maintains an active program to manage and conserve its existing woodlands, to restore hard-woods forest to former agricultural fields, and to involve its members in tree planting and trail management activities.
