The Great Backyard Bird Count is Here!
Participate in the 24th Great Backyard Bird Count organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada. Spend at least 15 minutes a day, on at least one of the four count days, observing and counting the birds in your backyard or on your street or neighborhood. Go to www.birdcount.org to learn how to participate using your smartphone and the Merlin app. or your computer.
Have you noticed robins, chickadees, starlings, woodpeckers or cardinals in your yard or neighborhood? Here is an opportunity to count them all for science. Last year over the four-day count approximately 270,000 participants from 194 countries counted about 27 million birds in almost 7,000 species (out of 10,000 known species).
Join the fun! Mark your calendar! Friday, February 12 through Monday, February 15.
