The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America is dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and responsible stewardship of our natural resources including soil, woods, waters, and wildlife for the benefit of current and future generations.
Founded on a vision of revitalizing degraded land into a living model of conservation, our Chapter maintains a 624-acre property in Poolesville, Maryland, where we promote sustainable land use, native habitat restoration, and environmental education. We provide opportunities for the public, youth, and community groups to engage with nature through outdoor recreation, hands-on conservation, scientific research, and environmental programs.
We support our national League’s mission “to conserve, restore, and promote the sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural resources” by protecting local ecosystems, educating the public, and fostering a deeper connection between people and the natural world.
Through volunteerism, advocacy, and on-the-ground projects, we work to preserve the beauty, biodiversity, and ecological integrity of our shared landscape — and to ensure that this natural heritage endures for generations to come.
