Log Cabin
The next time you’re at the Chapter head over to the Log Cabin. The short hike makes it the perfect destination for families. And don’t forget to bring your dog! But be careful, some dogs can’t resist the temptation of taking a dip in the Small Pond. Swimming is prohibited for us humans, but dogs are welcome to jump in./h6>
Come and relax on the porch. It has a table that’s prefect for a picnic. The porch is also a great spot for bird watching! Various species, including Purple Martins, can be seen swooping over the pond catching insects.
Every season has something new to see when visiting the Log Cabin. Summertime provides a special treat. Guests may enjoy picking the plentiful blackberries that grow around the cabin. Fall brings spectacular autumn colors and we get to watch Goldfinches feeding on plant seed heads. Winter snow has it’s own special beauty. And during springtime be sure to checkout our historic Springhouse. It ’s cold water was once used to refrigerate food.
In addition to providing enjoyment, the Log Cabin also requires maintenance. If you are handy please consider the team. The semi-annual Cleanup Days are one opportunity to pitch in. Or contact the Log Cabin Committee to find out more.
