Conservation Dinner and Award Night

Each year, we host our annual Conservation Education Dinner and Award Night, a free community event that brings members, families, and guests together to explore timely topics in conservation, recognize student leaders, and share a meal among friends. As part of our chapter’s commitment to environmental education, this event is open to the public and designed to inspire action, understanding, and stewardship.

Each year features a guest speaker covering a unique conservation theme—from wildlife telemetry and forest resilience to river health, biodiversity, and outdoor storytelling.  The topics are as varied as they are interesting. The evening also includes the presentation of our Conservation Awards to outstanding seniors from the Poolesville High School Global Ecology Program.

Whether it’s your first time or an annual tradition, the dinner offers a welcoming and thought-provoking evening:

• Homemade Spaghetti Dinner: Prepared by Chapter volunteers and served with cookies, drinks, and good conversation.

• Engaging Presentations: Past speakers have included Field & Stream’s Bill Heavey, wildlife experts from DNR, filmmakers like Sean Furmage, and partners like the Ruffed Grouse Society.

• Youth Recognition: We honor graduating seniors for their leadership in conservation and environmental science.

• Open Community Gathering: Meet fellow members, neighbors, and environmental advocates.

Best of all, there is no cost to attend. All are welcome. Just bring your curiosity and your appetite.
